I'm a member of a couple of different smoothie enthusiast Facebook groups where people mostly share recipes. Early in the first year of our family's smoothie habit, I was posting my daily smoothies in those groups EVERY SINGLE DAY. After a while a couple of things happened...
For one, my wife Suzan started to wonder aloud whether it really made sense to keep sharing since I have a very similar smoothie almost every day.
I also started to feel a little self-conscious about my smoothies. Like they weren't cool or interesting enough compared to the recipes other group members were sharing that had more exotic ingredients.
Looking back, it's interesting to see how there were subtle, sneaky forces at work pushing me toward having new, different, "fancy" smoothies vs. my old, familiar, simple ones.
For someone trying to have smoothies every day to be healthier (like I was), that would've been exactly the wrong thing to do. I talk about why in this article: One Smoothie Time Saver to Rule Them All.
I still have that same smoothie, or a variation of it, nearly every day. Here's the recipe in the order that I put things in the Vitamix. It makes 48oz or so. Enjoy :)
2 cups water
1 scoop protein powder
2 big handfuls leafy greens (varies)
1 cup of frozen fruit (varies)
Keeping your smoothies simple will make it easier to stick with them. By all means, try something new and fancy when you've got the time and inspiration, but otherwise I'd encourage you to go with what you know and feel good about it.
Have an awesome day.
